Kiwi Innovation on the Global Stage: SkillsVR Wins Two International Awards

We at SkillsVR are thrilled to share that our virtual reality training solutions have been recognized on the international stage with two Crime Stoppers International awards-a milestone that highlights how immersive technology can drive real-world impact in safety, rehabilitation, and workforce readiness.

VR Corrections Training Programme: Transforming Rehabilitation

Our partnership with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), Corrections NZ, and Site Safe NZ has earned the Public-Private Partnership in Crime Reduction Award. Together, we’ve created a secure, Wi-Fi-free VR training programme for justice-involved individuals, replacing traditional text-heavy lessons with interactive, experiential modules.

Since launching, our VR programme has delivered:

233 training sessions inside correctional facilities
140 digital employability badges
139 Site Safe Passports, with 73% of recipients gaining employment after release

Our programme not only equips participants with practical skills in areas like health and safety, financial literacy, and conflict resolution but also contributes to safer communities through improved reintegration outcomes.

VR Security Training Modules: Redefining Frontline Safety

In collaboration with Codec Security Ventures in Australia, our Bag Search & Wanding VR Training Modules have been honored with the Technology & Innovation in Security Award. These immersive modules allow security personnel to practice real-world crowd screening scenarios in high-pressure environments, improving confidence, compliance, and operational readiness.

Key achievements of our VR security training include:

Rapid five-minute training modules aligned with PAS 127–2014 UK standards
Deployment across major stadiums and transport hubs in the APAC region
Measurable improvements in guard decision-making, situational awareness, and procedural compliance

“Our VR training equips frontline personnel to act confidently and effectively, keeping communities safer,” says James Coddington, CEO of SkillsVR.

This is a huge honor for our team and a testament to the power of technology, collaboration, and human impact. From rehabilitation programmes inside New Zealand prisons to cutting-edge security training across Asia-Pacific, SkillsVR is proving that immersive learning can transform industries and create safer, more resilient communities worldwide. We’re proud to be leading this change and excited to continue pushing the boundaries of VR training.
